الوجود العربي في الولايات المتحدة الاميركية لم يكن امرا جديدا بل انه يمتد الى بدايات القرن التاسع عشر وربما قبل ذلك رغم ان الهجرات ذات الاعداد المهمة من العرب قد بدات بعد تفكك الدولة العثمانية وعلى ثلاث مراحل متباعدة
. تمكن الامريكيون العرب من تقديم مساهمات فاعلة في الحياة الامريكية اجتماعيا واقتصاديا وثقافيا وحتى في الجانب السياسي كانت لهم مشاركة مهمة
من اهم الشخصيات العربية التي كان لها حضورا فاعلا في امريكا في الجانب السياسي رالف نادر وهو سياسي ومدافع عن حقوق المستهلك (من أصل لبناني)

دونا شلالا وزيرة الصحة الأمريكية ورئيسة جامعة ميامي •

ولا تزال الجالية العربية عنصرا مسالما وفاعلا في كل جوانب الحياة والملاحظ ان تعامل الامريكان من اعراق مختلفة مع العرب تعاملا جيدا غير عنصري رغم وجود حالات متفرقة من العنصرية الا ان القوانين هنا صارمة بما يكفي لاخماد تلك التصرفات الفردية وهناك تفاهم كبير بين المواطنين من مختلف الاعراق

The Arab presence in the United States of America was not a new matter, but rather it extends to the beginnings of the nineteenth century and perhaps before that, although the migrations of significant numbers of Arabs began after the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and in three separate stages.
Arab Americans were able to make effective contributions to American life socially, economically, culturally, and even on the political side, and they had an important participation.
One of the most important Arab personalities who had an active presence in America on the political side is Ralph Nader, a politician and advocate for consumer rights (of Lebanese origin)
Ray LaHood, former US Secretary of Transportation (of Lebanese origin)
• Donna Shalala, US Secretary of Health and President of the University of Miami
• George Michel is a politician
• Charles Bustani, member of the US House of Representatives for one of the counties and others
There are great scientists such as Ahmed Zewail, Michael Dabaghi, Elias James Khoury, Farouk Al-Baz, Ghada Al-Mutairi, and others. let’s not forget the prominent businessman, Steve Jobs, who is of Syrian origin
There are also personalities of Arab origin who actively contributed to cultural and intellectual activities in the American cultural community. We mention some examples of that:

• Mustafa El Akkad, (Syrian) film director and producer
• Omar Sharif, actor (Egyptian)
• Tony Shalhoob, actor (of Lebanese origin)
• James Zogby, Director of the Arab American Institute (of Lebanese descent)
• Rima Fakih, Miss America 2010
• Hisham Fakih, comedian and social activist (Saudi)
• French Montana, Rapper (of Moroccan descent)
The Arab community is still a peaceful and active element in all aspects of life. It is noticeable that Americans of different races treat Arabs in a good, non-racist manner, despite the existence of sporadic cases of racism. However, the laws here are strict enough to suppress these individual behaviors, and there is a great understanding between citizens of different races.
